Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of HelmaShield services, including the HelmaShield Website, HelmaShield Watch (Android TV), and HelmaShield Go (Android mobile).
By creating an account or using any part of our services, you agree to these Terms.
1. About HelmaShield
HelmaShield is an independent software project operated by a private individual located in Sweden. The legal business name operating this service is Helmashield.
HelmaShield provides tools that allow parents and guardians to curate YouTube content for children.
HelmaShield is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by YouTube or Google.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create a HelmaShield account.
3. Account Registration
You must provide a valid email address and maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials.
Accounts are intended for use within a single household. Sharing accounts outside your household is not permitted.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for illegal activities
- Attempt to reverse engineer the apps
- Bypass security mechanisms
- Use automated scraping tools
- Distribute malware or harmful content
5. Child Profiles and Content
You are responsible for the content approved for your child's profiles.
HelmaShield does not host or control YouTube content. All videos remain subject to YouTube's Terms of Service.
6. Subscription and Billing
Free Trial
New accounts receive a 7-day free trial. No payment method is required during the trial.
After the trial expires, access to premium features will be suspended unless a paid subscription is activated.
Billing
Subscriptions are processed by Paddle. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the billing period.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from the account portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period.
Refunds
Payments are processed by Paddle, who acts as the Merchant of Record for all HelmaShield subscriptions. You may request a refund within 14 days of your purchase date by contacting support@helmashield.com. Refund requests are handled by Paddle in accordance with their Consumer Terms.
7. Device Pairing
Devices paired with your account receive access to approved content. You are responsible for removing devices you no longer control.
8. Intellectual Property
HelmaShield software, branding, and design are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not use HelmaShield trademarks without permission.
9. Third-Party Services
HelmaShield integrates with services including YouTube and Paddle. Use of those services is governed by their respective terms and policies.
By using HelmaShield, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HelmaShield shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify HelmaShield against claims arising from misuse of the service or violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may close your account at any time. HelmaShield may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or present security concerns.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Sweden.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
